So a couple of days ago, I went to Passport Health to get some vaccinations before my trip. It was quite an ordeal getting there, considering that we made the appointment for the Spartanburg location and it ended up being a 30-minute drive away in Greenville. That aside, it was a pleasant experience. The service was fast and informative.  I didn't know I was getting into a travel consultation, but I appreciated the tips and reminders they gave me. I decided to only get the vaccine for typhoid because 1) yellow fever is not an issue in Dominica nor prevelant in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico and 2) the risk of contracting rabies from bats is slim to none, the series of shots costs about $280/each, and I would still need immediate medical attention even with the vaccine.
A few hours after the shot, my arm was very sore and I found it painful to move past certain points. However, I worked the muscle some more to help the medicine spread in my blood and stretch it out. Today it stil felt like a stick in my arm but not nearly as painful.
Passport Health also sold me some bug spray to put on my clothes and other fabrics as well as some lotion-form bug repellant with DEET
